The Shannonside region has welcomed it's newest arrivals as the first babies of the New Year have been born.
So far, two baby girls have been safely delivered across the counties since midnight.
The first was born at 2:24 a.m. in Mullingar Regional Hospital, to mother Shaunagh Carberry from Carrickboy, Co. Longford.

She was soon joined by another little girl who arrived at 3:54 a.m. in Sligo University Hospital, weighing 7 pounds 14 ounces, to proud parents Orna Burke and Ronan Cox from Sligo.
Both sets of parents have said it's too early yet to settle on a name for their family's latest additions.
Children born today are the first of a new generation, known as Generation Beta.
