A Ballymahon woman has become the first nursing home resident in Longford to receive the new Covid-19 vaccine.
41 residents and 40 staff at Thomand Lodge Nursing Home all received the first dose of the Pfizer BioNTech COVID19 jab, with the second dose due in 3 weeks to leave residents and staff fully protected.
Manager Trish Ennis says the vaccine has brought them one step closer to reuniting residents with their families.

Catherine Gerety from Killcurry, Ballymahon was the first resident to receive the vaccine yesterday.
She says she's very relieved and thanked the staff for their care throughout the pandemic:
