Emotions are high in the Lough Funshinagh area as the first home affected by rising water levels is set to be demolished in the coming days.
Members of the Lyons-O'Meara family left their home in February 2021 after rising flood waters made it impossible to stay.
A large number of the community gathered at the home this afternoon to watch final preparations before the house is demolished this week. Neighbours looked on in fear that their own home might be next. The windows, roof, doors and contents of the home have all been removed and it’s expected demolition machinery will arrive before the end of the week.
