Annual General Meetings for Leitrim, Longford and Roscommon County Councils are set to get underway shortly.
Leitrim County Council's AGM will get underway in the next hour where Cllr Paddy O'Rourke is expected to be elected as Cathaoirleach. Fine Gael, Fianna Fáil and Independents James Gilmartin, Eddie Mitchell, Enda Stenson, and Felim Gurn will form a coalition there.
It would appear agreement has been reached on the balance of power in County Roscommon ahead of its AGM at 2.30. Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and Independents Emer Kelly, Laurence Fallon and Tom Crosby will form a coalition.
They have proposed Fianna Fáil's Paschal Fitzmaurice as Cathaoirleach and party colleague and newly-elected Councillor Larry Brennan as Leas Cathaoirleach. A statement from the coalition highlighted some of the issues members would be focusing on in the next five years.
Roads funding and issues such as safety measures on the N61, and scheme aimed at tackling Ash Dieback are among the priorities. Other focus areas include Climate Change and Biodiversity, Rural Transport, illegal dumping, tourism, supports for carers and older people, and job creation.
Meanwhile, Longford County Council's AGM is set to get underway at 3 pm. Fine Gael and the county's two Independents have formed a coalition with Lanesboro-based Independent Mark Casey set to elected as Cathaoirleach.
