The first details of the plans for the former Longford Greyhound Track have been released.
A masterplan for the council owned property has been compiled, with the former track to be used for public amenity projects.
The site is already the location of a purpose built Skate park opened in November, with Minister Heather Humprhries Officially opening the park this Friday.
According to Longford Councillor Peggy Nolan, the rest of the site has been earmarked for football pitches, a tennis court and public walkways connecting to the adjacent Royal Canal.
Local groups have called for the plan to be tweaked to include a lit running track using the former 550 metre Greyhound track loop.
It's also hoped that a sensory friendly and secure playground for children with ASD will be included in future works.
