The first staff at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar have received the Covid vaccine this afternoon.
Dr. Murat Kirca, the Clinical Director became the first person in the hospital to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and will return for their second dose, to be fully protected, in three weeks.
GM of Regional Hospital Mullingar, Anita Brennan, said today: "We're all really proud Dr Kirca is the first to receive the vaccine here. We really hope this encourages more and more people to get the vaccine. It's a really positive story when we need it most."
The vaccine will now be rolled out to all healthcare staff and vulnerable patients in Regional Hospital Mullingar over the coming weeks.
