People living in Carrick on Shannon and surrounding areas are being asked to make their views known today about flood defence plans for the town.
A public consultation event will take place in the Landmark Hotel in the town today from 2 o' clock in the afternoon until 8 'o clock this evening.
A total of four options are being considered by engineers who've been carrying out studies for the past coupe of years and local residents are being encouraged to give their thoughts on them.
Some of the options relate to the operation of weir systems at Lough Allen and at Jamestown which control the flow of the Shannon into and out of the town.
