There are calls for a study to be carried out to examine the reasons for the sharp decline in cruiser traffic on the River Shannon in Leitrim.
Carrick-on-Shannon councillor Cormac Flynn is calling on Tourism Minister Catherine Martin to order the examination.
He will make the proposal at next Monday's meeting of Leitrim County Council.
The issue will also be raised by Fianna Fáil councillor Paddy Farrell, who will call for Local Government Minister Darragh O'Brien to take action.
Councillor Flynn, from Sinn Fein, says there has been a very big drop in cruiser traffic in recent years.
