A former cathaoirleach has praised fire and emergency services for their prompt response to a fire which broke out in Ballaghaderreen yesterday.
Extensive damage was caused to the roof of the former Lir Café Bar in Market Street, which closed down 12 years ago.
Four fire brigades and local Gardaí were at the scene when the fire broke out shortly before 8pm.
Gardaí have confirmed that no one was injured and that the N5 to the old Charlestown Road has since been re-opened.
