A former GAA star is still being questioned by Gardai over an alleged fraud this morning.
It's understood the man approached a number of people looking for money to travel abroad for cancer treatment.
He was arrested yesterday afternoon, and can be held for up to 24 hours.
Public Affairs Correspondent with the Irish Independent, Amy Molloy, says it follows months of inquiries by Gardai:
'If a prosecution does proceed it will be under the criminal justice theft and fraud offences act.
Under this act fraud offences usually carry a max sentence of 5 years and that's on the higher end of the scale.
As it is being reported, some of the money being involved in this around 1 million euro.'
