The Independent councillor was elected on the first count, after having lost his seat in the 2020 elections.

A former government minister has been re-elected onto Westmeath County Council.
Kevin 'Boxer' Moran secured his seat yesterday for the Athlone LEA, gathering a total of 3,782 votes, surpassing the quota of 1,591 votes for that area.
The Independent councillor was elected on the first count, after having lost his seat in the 2020 elections.

Moran was a former TD and Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform with responsibility for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief.
