Former President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, has called on the church to re-examine its remaining controversial policies in the wake of the final report on the countries Mother and Baby Homes.
Ireland's second ever female president has urged the church to research and analyse what continues to be wrong within the church.
She highlighted the organisation's stance on sexuality, the role of women and it's efforts to protect the Church from scandal.
Dr McAleese, who lives in Roscommon, says that what happened in mother and baby homes across the country was a complete betrayal of the Christian faith.
