Former Irish Times columnist John Waters has announced he's running for European Parliament in the Midlands-Northwest. The Castlerea native previously ran in the 2020 general election in the Dun Laoghaire constituency but received just 925 votes and was eliminated in the first count. The controversial former journalist said his core values include protecting life from conception to natural death, family-friendly legislation, and the promotion of balanced regional development.
In a statement to Shannonside News, he said wanted to become a voice for 'hard-working and decent Irish people'. He added that he would stand against what he described as 'Woke tyranny' and said he would oppose the 'growing totalitarian direction of the EU'.
