Former Leitrim Fianna Fail TD John Ellis says Micheal Martin needs to consider his position sooner rather than later.
Reacting to the news that Marc MacSharry has left the party John Ellis says it'll leave Fianna Fail in a very weak position for the next general election in the constituency.
The Taoiseach's strongly rejected claims made by Deputy MacSharry about a written complaint received by Fianna Fáil.
A spokesperson for Michael Martin says they have received the TD's resignation from the party and wish him well for the future. Speaking on the Let's Talk show this afternoon the former Leitrim politician says he believes the complaint against Marc MacSharry has been blown out of proportion for political reasons.
He says both main parties have been concentrating on Dublin to the detriment of rural needs over the past several years.
The Fianna Fail organisation has been suffering for the last number of years in both Leitrim and Sligo and the whole of rural Ireland because they feel their voices aren't being listened to. and that's the reason you have so many independents elected
Both main parties seem to have deserted and everything now seems to be orientated to Dublin. I would expect that Micheal Martin knows he will have to consider his position once the Taoiseach's job changes because I think a lot of TDs are becoming very annoyed at the way the operation is being run and I think a lot of what Marc said is true."
