Former Longford-Westmeath TD Joe Flaherty has missed out on a seat in the Seanad. Flaherty, who lost his seat in the General Election was eliminated following the 17th count of the Cultural and Educational panel last night.
The Fianna Fáil man had previously vowed to reclaim his Dáil seat after receiving his Seanad nomination in December. He will now hoping to be one of 11 Taoiseach nominations which will be revealed next week.
