Former President describes impact of electricity loss in Roscommon

Mary McAleese lost electricity supply in her north Roscommon home for a week after Storm Eowyn - and is calling for the ongoing crisis to be fixed.

The weather events have regularly hit the Cootehall property the former president lives in with her husband, Martin.

Storm Eowyn led to power cuts for around 30,000 homes and businesses in the Shannonside region.

The problem took a long time to fix, and the former president says she was one of those impacted.

She says she feels very sorry for those who weren't as lucky.
