A former Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council says he has no intention of running in the next General Election. Athleague man Ivan Connaughton said he had been approached by various parties and wouldn't rule out a future run. He said he was currently focussed on family and business life, however, and wouldn't be seeking election in the short-term.
The popular auctioneer has been a source of speculation regarding his future in politics following his resignation from Roscommon County Council in 2021. Speaking to Shannonside News, the former councillor dismissed rumours regarding his involvement this time around:
