Former Westmeath TD and junior minister Kevin Boxer Moran has confirmed his intention of contesting the next general election.
The Athlone based former county councillor lost his Dail seat in the 2020 general election, and failed in a bid to be co-opted to take his sons seat on Westmeath County Council in January of last year.
He's also told the Westmeath Independent that he would consider running for the local elections, due next year, if they come first.
The former junior minister says he believes the existing TD's have taken their eye "off the ball" when it comes to Athlone and the area needs proper representation.
Boxer Moran says the recent announcement from Denis Naughten about his political future had sparked questions from media and he has answered honestly…
'Denis has opened media speculation on who's running and who's not.
I was asked the question and I suppose I have to be honest with you, I always had the vision to try and get back into it.
Politics is in my blood and I live and breathe it. Although I am still out of politics at the moment, I still follow it on a daily basis and sometimes on an hourly basis.'
