Four businesses gutted following large Athlone fire

Four businesses have been gutted by fire following an incident in the Baylough area of Athlone last night.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after a fire was reported at the rear of one of the buildings near a filling station around 8pm.

A pub, off licence, bookmakers and fast food outlet were evacuated safely and its not believed anyone has been injured.

The scene is being preserved for a technical examination but its not thought the fire is being treated as suspicious at this stage.
