Just over nine-hundred children ( 901) were born in the Shannonside Northern Sound region in the first three months of the year.
According to the CSO, Cavan had the highest birth rate with 277 children born in the county between January and March.
201 new-borns were welcomed by their parents in Roscommon and Monaghan - with 126 children born in Longford, and 96 in Leitrim.
The majority of births in the region were to women aged between 30 and 34, and nineteen children were born to women under the age of twenty.
According to the CSO, just over one -third of all children born in the first quarter of the year were to mothers who were not married or in a civil partnership.
The average age of first time mothers in Longford is 30.5, 31.2 in Leitrim and Roscommon, and 30.4 in Cavan and 30.1 in Monaghan.
