Fourth person appears in court in relation to stabbing in Longford town

During the course of the investigation into the public disorder, Gardaí have recovered a number of items such as slash hooks, a machete, shovels and a samurai sword.

A fourth person has appeared in court in connection with a stabbing in Longford town earlier this month. The man in his 30s was arrested on Sunday by Longford Gardaí and later appeared before Longford District Court. The incident on Thursday morning the 10th of October saw Patrick Stokes allegedly assaulted in the Deanscurragh area receiving a number of injuries including a stab wound that resulted in him being airlifted to hospital in Dublin.

David Joyce and his wife Winnie Keenan, both of 35 Palace Crescent, Ardnacassa originally appeared in Court following the incident with Martin Keenan of 81 Ardnacassa Avenue, Longford also appearing in court last week. During the course of the investigation into the public disorder, Gardaí have recovered a number of items such as slash hooks, a machete, shovels and a samurai sword. The man in his 30s is due to re-appear in Longford District Court later this week.
