A former Fine Gael councillor in Leitrim believes Frank Feighan should represent the party in the general election - instead of former junior minister John Perry.
This week Ballymote man Perry confirmed he would contest the party's Sligo-Leitrim selection convention on September 1st.
He lost his Dáil seat in 2016 after 19 years as a TD and unsuccessfully ran as an Independent four years later.
The deadline for nominations for next month's convention is August 14th - with Perry, Feighan and Sligo councillor Thomas Walsh the confirmed candidates so far.
John McCartin, from Newtowngore in Co Leitrim, believes only one of them should be chosen.
