Westmeath county council is to organise free collections of household bulky furniture at its recycling centres in Athlone and Mullingar in the coming weeks.
It follows major success with two free mattress collections at the centres last weekend which saw almost 900 mattresses collected.
The Westmeath authority says communities and councils are fighting illegal dumping on the daily basis and member so the public are urged to be vigilant and report any incidences they see.
It's also warning people to beware of dealing with unauthorised waste collection services where the rubbish often ends up being dumped in local laneways or bogs.
Anyone who uses the services of an illegal waste collector can face fines and/or court.
