A new 50 million euro fund to provide free schoolbooks for primary school children, will ease the financial burden on parents.
That's according to the Education Minister, who formally launched the scheme this morning.
It's the first time the state has covered the costs of such materials for all primary school pupils.
Minister Norma Foley says it will eliminate all costs for families:
'So there is no question that parents should be asked to add any additionality to the funding that has been provided by the Department and again I would say to the chools that the finding of the pilot are from school principles'
