Local Councillors say they are deeply disappointed by news that no funding is being provided for the N61 Ballymurray to Knockcroghery road project.
The news was relayed to elected representatives at a meeting of Roscommon County Council this afternoon.
In August of last year plans for the preferred route were published, however, the TII have now revealed that there is no money available for the 14 kilometer stretch to proceed to the design and environmental phase.
Council officials told today's meeting the project was being pushed out rather than being disbanded.
Members expressed their frustration over the decision and believe action must be taken to ensure the road is upgraded.
