The funds have been earmarked for the Dermot Early Centre of Excellence in Roscommon and the Shannonside Recreational Campus in Leitrim.

The fund is designed to support the installation of barrier-free outdoor sport infrastructure for public use in local community settings.

Over 10 million euro has been allocated to support local and community grassroots sports clubs across the Shannonside Region.

The funds are part of 230 million euro for new and improved sports facilities and equipment throughout the country under the Community Sport Facilities Fund.

The grants come from the Shared Island Sports Club EV Charging Scheme, a 15 million euro scheme to install new EV Chargers for club members and visitors.

The announcement was made this morning by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys.

This funding assists local authorities in creating a pipeline of significant, well-developed projects in local towns across the country.

Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan announced more than €458,000 of funding is to be provided for 36 local community groups and organisations across Ireland.
