Over €160,000 has been allocated to a Leitrim Forestry Co-op for a number of forestry promotion projects.
The Western Forestry Co-operative Society Limited has received the allocation as part of a 1.6 million euro fund from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The projects are designed with a particular focus on engaging with farmers, existing forest owners and other landowners.
Over €101,000 has been ringfenced for a Woodland Festival in Leitrim titled 'Come See the Wood from the Trees'.
A further €33,000 is being allocated for a Native Tree Promotion Project, while €26,300 will go towards hosting Woodlands creation open days.
According to Junior Minster at the Department of Agriculture, Pippa Hacket, the projects will engage with the wider community to promote trees as a source of biodiversity and enjoyment.
