A funding boost of 100,000 euro has been allocated to Longford/Westmeath Disability Services.
It's part of an overall 2 million euro spend under the HSE's CREATE initiative, which aims to improve access to digital and assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
Longford County Council will work with the HSE in a pilot project to deliver ten inclusive housing solutions.
The homes will be renovated to include environmentally controlled smart switches, voice activation systems as well as sensory monitoring to detect, trips, falls and wandering.
Minister Anne Rabbitte hopes the learnings of Longford and Westmeath can be rolled out by other councils.
