Longford County Council is to seek funding to undertake restoration works at the junction known as The Four White Walls in North Longford.
The junction which is on the road between Aughnacliffe and Gowna is recorded on maps and it is nationally and internationally recognised as a place of note joining the province of Ulster and Leinster on the Cavan/Longford border.
The call for restoration was made by Fine Gael Councillor Garry Murtagh at a recent meeting of Granard Municipal District.
Longford County Council has agreed to examine the site and carry out works subject to funding being secured.
