The announcement was made this morning by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys.

This funding assists local authorities in creating a pipeline of significant, well-developed projects in local towns across the country.

Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan announced more than €458,000 of funding is to be provided for 36 local community groups and organisations across Ireland.

Minister for Public Health and Wellbeing, Colm Burke announced this morning that €250,000 worth of funding will be made available to men's sheds across the country.

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys announced today that €16.5 million worth of funding is to be delivered to 185 community projects across the country.

The maximum amount under the Housing Adaptation Grant is €30,000, which may cover up to 95 per cent of the works.

Locally, some of the projects that can expect to receive funding are Athlone Castle, Lough Key Forest Park in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, and a new amphitheatre in Lanesboro, Co. Longford.
