A 5k run is taking place in Easkey in Sligo this afternoon as part of a fundraising campaign for Longford woman Laura Gilmore Anderson.
Laura issued a plea on social media just over a week ago after being told by doctors in Scotland that there wasn't anything else they could do to treat her rare form of cancer which she's been battling for three years.
An outpouring of support has seen €360,000 raised for Laura's treatment since that time, and she is currently in Germany for treatment there.
She hopes to travel on to a clinic in Mexico after that, and the fundraising goal is €420,000 because of the extensive treatment she now needs.
The 5K run in Easkey begins at half past twelve on Sunday with registration at the Castle Inn at half past twelve.
