The funeral of six-year-old Matthew Healy will take place in a county Cork village today. The senior infants pupil was found unresponsive in a car close to Dunmore East in county Waterford last Friday. Last night his mother was charged with his murder. The Senior Infants pupil was found at Rathmoylan Cove close to Dunmore East after midnight last Friday and pronounced dead at University Hospital Waterford. Today’s requiem mass in Watergrasshill will be followed by a private service at The Island Crematorium in Ringaskiddy.
Meanwhile, his mother 37-year-old Ruth Purcell Healy of Bishopsfield, Williamstown, Waterford appeared before a special sitting of Waterford District Court charged with his murder last night. Detective Sergeant David Shore said the accused said “no thank you” when asked if she wanted to reply to the charge. She was remanded in custody to Limerick Prison and is due to appear before the court again on Tuesday via video link.
