The funeral of a Roscommon man killed in Sligo last week has heard there are no words to describe the grief that has been left by his death.
Dozens of people have gathered at the Church of Christ the King, Lisacul, Co Roscommon this afternoon to pay their final respects to 41-year-old Aidan Moffitt before he is laid to rest in Lisacul Cemetery following the funeral mass.
The Taoiseach and Tanaiste were represented by their aide de camp, Commandant Claire Mortimer while a letter from the Bishop of Elphin, Kevin Doran was also read to the congregation.
The funeral of 58 year old Michael Snee is also taking place around now in Sligo.
Gifts brought to the altar during the funeral mass to symbolise Aidan's life included a Roscommon flag, his auctioneer's mallet and briefcase, a family crest and Jockey silks to represent his love of horse racing.
In his homily, Father Michael McManus described Aidan as a character who lived life to the full.
