Funeral of well known local historian taking place today

The funeral is taking place today of a local man who was known as one of the country's leading historians. 91-year-old Jude Flynn died peacefully at his home in Longford town on Monday.

His funeral Mass is taking place in St Mel's Cathedral at 11 o'clock this morning, with burial afterwards in Gortletteragh cemetery. Senator Joe Flaherty paid tribute to him in the Seanad yesterday:
