A man killed in a road crash in north Roscommon will be laid to rest today.
Tom Mulhern, who was aged in his 70s, lost his life after a serious collision on the N4 on Monday. Mulhern was well known in Co Roscommon through his involvement in the horse-breeding industry.
He lived in Ardcarne, near where the crash happened on Monday. It happened on the N4, when a car and a Jeep collided at around 1.20 on Monday afternoon.
Along with Mulhern, a woman in her 40s was taken to Sligo University Hospital, for treatment on non-life-threatening injuries. Mulhern's injuries were initially described as serious, but he later died in hospital. Glowing tributes have been paid to him online, where he's been described as "a great character" and "a pure gentleman in the post office". His funeral Mass will take place in St Michael's Church, Cootehall, at 11.30 this morning, with burial afterwards in Ardcarne Cemetery.
