Approval is set to be given by the government for the provision of twenty additional homes in Ballinalsoe.
Senator Eugene Murphy understands that the Department of housing is to give the green light for the renovation of derelict houses as well as seven homes and four apartments.
The announcements comes after approval for 32 new homes were confirmed in May of this year for the town, where the housing market is limited at present.
The work is to be undertaken by Galway County Council and Senator Murphy is hopeful that it will ease some of the pressures on the housing market in the town.
