Further public consultations are needed before the introduction of new Waterway Ireland by-laws.
That's the view of Leitrim Councillor Enda McGloin who is warning that the laws will see a reduction in visitors and overnight stays in the county.
The by-laws would include the reduction of mooring times, removal of winter mooring and a tax on businesses operating on the Shannon.
Councillor McGloin believes the boating sector is a major cog in Leitrim's tourist offering.
