A Galway Senator says the Green Party does put forward proposals that are fair to rural areas.
Pauline O'Reilly's comments was response to Michael Fitzmaurice's statement on the Joe Finnegan show yesterday that he couldn't support a government that included the Green Party.
The Independent TD said he believes the Green party is doing a lot of harm to the rural economy and the fabric of rural life.
Senator O’Reilly says the party cares about rural communities and wants to secure incomes for farmers while also doing the right thing for the environment.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, she says a lot of politicians will blame the Green Party for anything:
'Why I am really happy to take any opportunity to give the facts is because when you think about it is very easy for politicians who are just looking for votes to try to use the green party as escape goats.
A lot of parties and Michael Fitzmaurice wouldn't be the only one but I seen this a lot from Sinn Fein as will blame the Green Party for almost everything and I don't think that they are being honest and this is why I think that it is important to actually outline what we are doing.'
