The Garda Commissioner is set to attend memorial event in Roscommon this afternoon to remember two Gardai shot dead at Loughglynn forty years ago today.
Detective Garda John Morley and Garda Henry Byrne lost their lives at Shannon's Cross outside Loughglynn after responding to a call about a bank robbery in Ballaghaderreen.
A ceremony will take place at 2pm today, and road closures will be in place from 1pm to 3pm to facilitate people getting to the monument .
