Longford Sergeant Darren Conlon is encouraging members of the public to come to the local rugby club this morning for a special Garda Open Day.
The Open Days are being held around the country as part of the celebrations of the centenary of An Garda Siochana this year.
Several national units in the Gardaí including the Air Support Unit, the Mounted Unit, and Water Unit will have displays at the rugby club from ten o' clock this morning until 12 noon today.
Sgt. Conlon from the Community Policing Unit in Longford says today is a family fun event but it can also be used for people to have a chat with local Gardaí in a relaxed setting…
"Its a great opportunity for locals to speak to us on a real personal level and learn about maybe good things and also bad things and we always pick up how we can improve on days like this. It maybe issues that people are being faced with in the community and its a real good family day out but also we can engage with the community at events like this."
