Gardaí appealing for witnesses following Athlone hit and run

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit-and-run in Athlone in the early hours of Sunday morning. It happened on North Gate Street at around 12.30.

A man in his 60s who was walking was hit by a car, which failed to stay at the scene. He was taken to hospital in Tullamore, where he is still being treated for what are described as serious injuries. Anyone with information is asked to contact Gardaí.
