Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a road crash in Co. Meath.
A man in his 20s was seriously injured after he was hit by a car on the Trim Road in the early hours of this morning.
The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was hit by a car on the Trim Road at Balreask Cross at around half past 1 this morning.
He was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment, where his condition is described as serious.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
A section of the R161 near Balreask Cross is closed for a forensic examination, and local diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward, and for any drivers with video or dashcam footage from the area at the time to make it available to them.
