Gardaí are asking the public across the Shannonside Northern Sound region to get a grip today as they raise awareness of defective tyres.
Today is Tyre Safety Day, a day designed to highlight the danger defective tyres pose to motorists especially coming into the winter months.
The call from the Gardaí follows checkpoints across the region for checking tyre health.
Following inspections in Roscommon, two motorists have been issued €150 fixed Charge Penalty Notices for defective tyres.
Speaking on Let's Talk today, Brian Egan from Egan Tyres and Service Station says paying close attention to tyre health could stop an accident before it happens.
