Four people have been arrested as part of an operation targeting a crime group in Co. Galway. Gardaí carried out searches in Galway, Roscommon, Westmeath and Offaly this morning. Gardaí believe this gang is involved in crimes such as the possession of guns, drug dealing, drug intimidation, burglaries and serious assaults in East Galway and neighbouring divisions. As part of an operation targeting the group, officers searched houses in Ballinasloe, Taughmaconnell, Athlone, Banagher and Cloghan.
Four men, aged in their 20s and 30s, were arrested, and are being detained at stations in the North West. Gardaí also seized two vehicles, phones, a machete, knives, a cattle prod and a taser. They say investigations are ongoing.
