Three men have been arrested following an operation targeting an organised burglary gang operating in the Shannonside Northern Sound Region.
Gardaí from the North Western Region supported by National and Regional units conducted a number of search operations in Dublin and Kildare over the weekend.
Gardaí arrested three men suspected of committing burglaries of residential and commercial properties in Roscommon, Cavan and Galway.
The men, one aged in his 50s and two others in their 20s are currently being detained in the North-Western Region.
The searches formed part of Operation Thor, An Garda Síochána's national strategy targeting organised crime groups involved in burglaries and associated criminal activity.
Four vehicles were seized as part of the operation, including a high performance Blue BMW, while a substantial amount of suspected stolen property has alos been recovered.
The region has seen a significant spate of commercial and home burglaries over the last year, with one local pub and shop in Roscommon broken into seven times since February.
The three men can can be detained for up to a week under organised crime legislation.
