Roscommon Gardaí have launched an enquiry into an alleged assault on a referee at a Roscommon GAA match yesterday evening.
The official required medical treatment following an incident during the second half of the match at the Ballyforan GAA ground.
Gardaí say they are aware of the video being circulated on social media showing the injured man on the ground.
While they have confirmed they are making enquires into what happened, no formal investigation has been launched at this time.
Meanwhile, Roscommon GAA have already begun a full investigation.
The match was abandoned following the incident that saw the ambulance service called to the pitch.
In a statement to Shannonside FM Roscommon GAA say they strongly condemn any behaviour that puts any officials at risk and they have wished the referee a speedy recovery.
