The remains of a Lithuanian man missing for close to seven years from his home in Strokestown have been discovered.
29 year old Tomas Martinkus was last seen on the morning of the 19th of December, 2018 at his home in the Forgehill Estate in Strokestown.
The Lithuanian national had been living and working in the area for the previous two years.
Roscommon Gardaí received a report of the discovery of skeletal remains on farmland near the town on the 1st of December, 2024.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out and the remains were subsequently determined by a Forensic Anthropologist to be those of man.
The deceased was identified through DNA analysis, with Gardaí not suspecting foul play.
A file will now be prepared for the Coroner and the missing persons appeal has been stood down.
