Gardai are to exhume a body of a male that was found on a beach in Leitrim 34 years ago according to the Irish independent.
The body which is buried in Manorhamilton was discovered on the rocks on Tullaghan Strand in North Leitrim in May 1986.
The Irish Independent understands that an exhumation of the remains will take place later this month under the supervision of detectives from the Garda Missing Persons Bureau.
The body which was discovered on the 1st of May in 1986 and had some very distinctive tattoos despite been badly decomposed.
A source involved in the case said it is hoped that advances in forensic science in particular DNA identification could lead to the identity of the man.
