Gardaí are investigating a serious assault in Longford town in the early hours of this morning.
A man in his 20s was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar for treatment.
His injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

An area around St Mel's cathedral in the centre of the town remains sealed this morning for a technical examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
