Dozens of Gardai from across the Shannonside region took part in a prayer vigil last night to remember Colm Horkan one week after his death.
Fr John McManus and senior Gardai from the Castlerea garda division as well as local residents took part in the short ceremony at around 12.30am.
Flowers and candles were placed at the scene of the fatal shooting of the Mayo garda with several retired Gardai also in attendance.
A man who was charged with the murder of the 49-year-old is due back in court tomorrow.
Newspaper reports this morning suggest that Stephen Silver, of Aughaward, Foxford, Mayo, has been moved to a medical facility this week, after initially being remanded to prison last Friday.
He is due to appear at Harristown District Court tomorrow via video link for service of the Book of Evidence.
